Crypto trading firms — market makers, proprietary trading shops, OTC desks and prime brokers — are consistently among the best-paying employers in the industry, and they hire far beyond quant roles. ChainJobs tracks 204 live openings at 13 trading firms right now, plus 42 trading & quant roles at exchanges and other crypto companies — every listing aggregated daily from the employer's own careers page. Among the 23 of these roles with an employer-published USD band, the median is $195k.

What roles trading firms hire for
The stereotype is quant researchers and traders, and those roles exist — but the current mix across these firms is broader: Engineering 90 · Trading & Quant 49 · Operations 34 · Other 10 · BD & Sales 10. Engineering runs deep (low-latency systems, execution infrastructure, smart-contract and DeFi integrations), and the business side spans sales, operations, compliance and legal. 22 of the 204 firm roles are remote — lower than the board-wide remote share, because latency-sensitive desks tend to be in-office.

How trading-firm hiring differs
Three practical differences from the rest of crypto. Process: expect technical screens closer to finance than to startups — market-microstructure questions, probability puzzles, live coding for engineers, and for junior trading roles often a mental-math or games-based screen. Compensation: base bands understate these firms more than anywhere else on the board, because the variable component (performance bonus, PnL share) is the point; published bands here are a floor. Location: the desks cluster in a handful of hubs — Amsterdam, London, New York, Chicago, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei — so filter by USA, Europe or Asia if you are location-constrained.
