The pattern across the top of the board is consistent: the best-paid roles concentrate in trading firms, exchanges, and well-funded infrastructure companies, and they price specialised, provable skill — protocol engineering, security auditing, quantitative research, senior sales with a book of relationships, and senior legal or compliance judgment. A note on what this data is (and isn't)
Only employer-published USD annual bands are counted — no inferred figures, no self-reported surveys, no averaging across markets. Roles that don't publish pay are excluded rather than estimated, and placeholder bands are rejected. That makes these numbers conservative and verifiable: every figure traces to a live listing you can open. It also means the data under-represents companies that never publish pay — typically smaller teams and some trading firms whose real compensation exceeds anything here.
