Crypto Salary Benchmarks for Employers

What to offer, from 743 live employer-published bands. Updated 2026-09-15.

This page exists for one decision: what band to put on a crypto job listing. Every figure comes from the 743 live roles on the board whose employer publishes a USD annual range on its own listing — the median midpoint across all of them is $191k, with the middle half of bands between $153k and $225k. Nothing here is surveyed, modelled or estimated; the table recomputes daily as listings open and close.

Remote vs on-site

Remote roles with published bands show a median of $190k; on-site roles $195k. Some employers location-adjust remote bands and say so in the listing; where they do, the adjusted range is what appears here. The practical point for an employer: with 40% of live crypto roles remote, an on-site-only requirement is competing for a much smaller pool at roughly the same price.

How to set a band

Three rules from the data. First, publish one: only 20% of live crypto roles do, so a listing with a range is the exception candidates notice, and it is the first filter experienced people apply. Second, anchor to the function's interquartile range above rather than the headline median — a band that spans the 25th–75th percentile of the market reads as honest and leaves room to close. Third, state the non-base components concretely: token or equity grants, vesting, cliff, and what the grant is denominated in. Experienced crypto candidates discount vague equity language to zero and anchor on base; a specific description is worth real money in the offer conversation. The full salary report has percentiles by role title and the top-paying companies; the highest-paying roles page shows where the top of the market sits.

Across the 743 live crypto roles that publish a USD annual band, the median midpoint is $191k, with the middle half of bands between $153k and $225k. This is a median of employer-published bands, not a survey estimate, and it recomputes daily.

Which crypto function pays the most?

By median published band today: Executive at $250k. The full table by function is on this page; trading-firm roles additionally carry variable components that published bands understate.

Do remote crypto jobs pay less than on-site?

Not on current data: remote roles with published bands show a median of $190k against $195k for on-site roles. Some employers location-adjust remote bands; the listing's own range is always the figure shown.

Where does this salary data come from?

Only from bands employers publish on their own live listings — Lever and Ashby structured compensation fields, or a US-style annual range in Greenhouse posting text. Roles without a band are excluded, never estimated; non-USD and hourly bands are excluded from these annual figures.
